Everything You Need to Know About the 2022 Ram 2500

The Ram 2500 is one of the most capable and popular trucks on the market. In 2020, a year where sales of almost everything declined, Ram sold over half a million trucks!

These trucks are reliable, powerful, and offer a comfortable ride for all in the cabin. It’s easy to see why they’re doing so well. With the new upgrades and features in the 2022 Ram 2500, they’ll be even more popular. Continue reading to find out what’s new with the 2022 Ram 2500.

Ram 2500 Exterior

The new model year will be bringing new looks for the Ram 2500. The split front grille will be larger, creating a powerful and brute look. It will contrast perfectly with the sleek and narrower LED headlights. The body will have more defined lines throughout to give the truck a sharper look.

More exterior changes and customizations will be offered depending on the trim level. A new accessory coming to the 2022 Ram 2500 is an automatic power side running board.

There will even be a new Limited Night Edition. This trim is built on the Limited trim and offers unique features.

The Limited Night Edition will have black accents, both matte and gloss. The black detailing will contrast with a selection of new exterior colors. These will be exclusive for this trim. The wheels also get bumped up to 20-inches for a bigger and beefier look.

This trim level is just one of the seven different trim levels that the 2022 Ram 2500 comes in. In total, the Ram 2500 offers 36 different configurations that can meet both your personal wants and professional needs.

Like the Ram 2500 Power Wagon. Whether you like to go off-road for recreation or need to do so for work, this trim level has got you covered. For the new model year, this trim level offers wheels that are bead-lock capable and rock rails to protect the truck, so you spend less time with undercar services.

Engine Options

If you are in the market for a new truck but have never had a diesel engine, the Ram 2500 is perfect for you. The new 2022 Ram 2500 will offer two, possibly three, engine and transmission configurations.

There’s a standard gas-powered 6.4-liter V8 engine that has 429 lb-ft of torque and 410 horsepower. For diesel lovers, Ram will continue to offer its powerful Cummins engine. This is the 6.7-liter V6 turbo-diesel option that offers 850 lb-ft of torque and 370 horsepower.

The heaviest configuration of the Ram 2500 will have a 19,680 lbs tow capacity. The payload maxes out at a whopping 4,010 lbs. With added features like trailer tire psi sensors, guided trailer views, locking differentials, and the 12,000 lbs Warn ZEON winch; the new Ram 2500 is guaranteed to haul cargo and equipment safely.

This truck comes standard in rear-wheel drive. If you need 4×4 services and capability for work or recreation, all trim levels of the 2022 Ram 2500 offer a 4-wheel-drive option.

The biggest change could be the offering of a third option. This is rumored to be the Allison automatic transmission. This would be a groundbreaking offer as the Allison transmissions are known for their reliability and power.

Interior

The interior of the 2022 Ram 2500 will have added wood or chrome details for a more luxurious cabin. The Mega Cab from Ram still provides the largest and most luxurious cab in its class.

The cabin is full of high-tech features and details that could make occupants forget they’re in a powerful work truck. The active noise cancellation and acoustic glass are perfect for a quiet and premium feel no matter what environment you’re in.

It will also feature the Uconnect 5 system on the 12.0-inch infotainment display across all trim levels except for the base level Tradesman. The Uconnect 5 will provide a better user experience overall as it’s loaded with features.

The Uconnect 5 will offer 2022 Ram 2500 owners home screen customizations, dedicated graphics and fonts for specific trim levels, and a faster and more responsive touchscreen. The Uconnect will also have Amazon Alexa integration, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, stolen vehicle assistance, and up to five saved user profiles.

The saved user profiles will change the cabin temperature, mirror adjustments, and seating position with one touch. The system assists drivers with important engine maintenance as it reminds the drivers of the vehicle’s oil life, engine temperature, and the psi of the tires.

Ram 2500 Reliability

There are many benefits to taking good care of your engine. You’ll increase its longevity and even help to retain its resale value—especially when dealing with a diesel engine.

When compared to their gas-powered counterparts, diesel engines last longer, are more fuel-efficient, and are more reliable. It’s a big reason why Ram trucks continue to be so popular.

The Cummins diesel engine the Ram series offers is dependable and strong enough to tackle heavy loads. The new 2022 Ram 2500 with the Cummins engine outhauls most of its competitors. With proper diesel truck care, you’ll continue doing so for many years after purchasing the vehicle.
